Risotto- Riso Printing- Wedding invites, zines etc.

On the second day of placement we did a lot of riso printing which is like screen printing but on a machine which makes things a lot quicker. To riso print the artwork gets sent to the printer and burnt onto the screen inside of the printer and coated with ink, the printer then needs to be warmed up and print  some bad ones before the printer starts flowing. the main issue with riso print is alignment, with screen printing you can see where to line up your screen but with riso everything is inside the printer so can take a fair few attempts to get all the crop marks lines up, another problem with riso printing is getting the prints 'muddy' too much ink on the prints and the prints can become dirty with excess ink, however this is removable with a rubber even when dry. I have learnt a lot about riso today a form of printing that I previously didn't know much about, Gabriella does many prints within one day to please various clients, today we printed some posters for a new fitness app being launched, some 3 coloured double sided wedding invites, and an architectural piece for a student from Glasgow school of art.
