Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

I have had a few days in Amsterdam this easter and got the chance to visit Stedelijk Museum a contemporary design museum in Amsterdam.

Above is an image of the design of the actual building, it looked very much like a space ship inside with shiny white curved walls.

The main exhibition that was on was Henri Matisse's this was one of my favourite pieces by him of tulips the most famous flower in Amsterdam.

Maurice De Vlaminck, Paris 1876

Matisse was excited by Maurice de Viaminck's use of pure colours, like in this painting; it's first impression is one of vivid colours; only afterwards the image takes shape.

Really admire the use of shape and colour within this painting, reminds me of sea weed

Henri Matisse- Cutouts

This was my favourite piece of the whole exhibition, it was on such a large scale.
I like the use of colour line and shape to create this piece, a simple yet effective piece by Matisse.

Below are some images of some Dutch design work that I liked and found inspirational

Some nice bold type reminding me of the Great Gatsby
