Tearibly Cheesy Puns Poster

Also to go in the freshers fair we have decided to make a 'tearibly cheesy puns' poster where people tear of cheese puns as we thought we would add a bit of humour into it.

Hollie made me this quick brief and she only wanted the poster to be very simple.

I sketched out some type scanned it in and live traced it on illustrator, I wanted to keep it quite free hand and fun.

Keeping in with the colours and the theme I went for the blue I used in the Facebook header, for the  text to be in orange to fit in with the logo. I am happy with the way it looks and Hollie was really pleased with it too.

Cheese Society Poster and Leaflet

The cheese society needs posters and leaflets to hand out at the freshers fair, I want to keep with the same hand drawn theme, so I need to start drawing some ideas and getting some inspiration.

My main inspiration for the poster and leaflet has been from Steph Baxter

I love her hand drawn type and her use of colour

This is the poster although it is very simple this is all we needed, I wanted to keep it very minimal to make the logo stand out as much as possible.

Here are just some starts of ideas for the leaflet, on the leaflet we want to mention the events, I want to make this as eye catching and fun as possible, above is the first sketch I did.

I want to involve some more colour in the leaflet other than orange and yellow.

I was inspired for the 'wensleydale wednesdays' by some of Kate Moross' type but now I have scanned it in i really don't like it. however I am happy with the 'up coming events' bit.

After many more times scanning in designs and re doing them, changing colours ect I finally came up with this design. I showed it to holly and she is really happy with the way it looks. This will be the leaflets however we are also going to print some larger ones as posters.

LCA Cheese Society Logo

I have been approached to design all of the material for the LCA cheese society, I spoke to Hollie the head of the society and she said she wants to logo to be something fun, maybe including the classic image of cheese (the cheese with the holes) and for it to say LCA cheese society or Leeds College of Cheese.

Below are some sketches of some initial ideas

Here are the main two ideas that I came up with and sent to Hollie, i just sent her the designs as I will add colour later.

She said she loved them both but think the top one will work better, but LCA would be needed to added somewhere.

These were the two final ideas I decided to go for the top one even though the font is clearer on the second one, having hand drawn type ties it all together.

The cheese society also needed a header for their Facebook page

Hollie thought of a cheese pun she wanted 'it's going to be legenDAIRY' i drew this out scanned it in and live traced it on illustrator.

We then decided what colours would be best, Hollie decided on the yellow as it matches the logo to keep it consistant.

The final Facebook page.

LA Design Studio- Ludlow Kingsley

This is a graphic design company that I visited in LA California, unfortunately they couldn't speak to me as they were in a conference, I did get their card of the creative director. I do really like their work they have done especially some of their most recent work including the new designs for the grand central market in downtown LA. I will defiantly be checking there website to see who they are designing for in the future.

Bangkok Design Studio- NONCITIZEN

Before I went traveling I contacted a few design companies and one that did get back to me was one in Bangkok Thailand. A design company called NON CITIZEN http://thenoncitizen.com/ . I contacted them because I was interested in their web design mainly. They told me to come a visit.
It took me three hours to find their design studio, google maps took me to the wrong place, after asking in a few hotels I got direct to take the sky train. I took the sky train and got lost many more times asked in a few coffee shops along the way.
After three hours I finally found it, only to find it was shut down.

I asked the man next door and he informed me that they have been closed for months, I was so annoyed but there was nothing I could do, I couldn't ring them because I didn't have their number and its so expensive to ring from an british phone and I couldn't message them because I had no internet. I got the address off their website and surely if they did move they would of gave me their new address. There wasn't enough time to revisit them in my traveling schedule because I had so much to do/see.

Unfortunately this was a bad experience but I am happy that I managed to talk to them via e-mail just such a shame I didn't get to see their studio.

Chess Valley Male Voice Choir

I have been approached by a Choir to design them some word templates for a new poster, tickets, and programme. This is the brief that they have given me:

The choir is a Male Voice Choir of about 50 members based in Chesham. We need templates that can be used for Word. The Choir's title is Chess Valley Male Voice Choir and we prefer that to the abbreviation used in these examples. We must have the charity number on material. In these examples 'Popular songs' is the title of the concert we need that option plus a version without a title, we are open to using or not using a photograph.

You Tube videos of the choir in action are available on my channel : Jeremy Wyman

Let me know if you need any more information.

Here are some empales of the designs now

this is the tickets they currently use, personally I think they just need reorganising and to have better use of type hierarchy

This is their current poster, you can tell that it has been designed on word, I really hate everything about it. He wants a template that he can just edit over and over again, I am going to try and keep  the information clear and for the poster, programme and tickets to match.

This is the current inside of the programme he doesn't want this re designed but I think I might suggest a better font to keep it consistent.

This is the current logo, he doesn't want this changing, I think I can work with the colours in this

Here are the first drafts that I sent him

Designing on word and trying to make something look decent is the hardest thing ever. I have tried to keep it clean and clear to read as this is aimed at OAP's, I chose blue font to match their uniforms in the image.

After sending him these templates he requested a few changes
- for the title not to be abbreviated
-to have templates without colour
-no shadow on the title of the poster
-to have a poster with no photo
-date information larger

I acted upon these requests and created some more templates on Word and emailed him

These are the final designs that he wanted to go with.

Photographers Logo/ Watermark

My friend Anne Wyman recently contacted me as she needed a logo that could also work as a watermark on her photos.

I asked her a few questions, whether she wanted a strong, powerful business logo, or something a bit more friendly, handwritten and feminin.

She wanted it bold but not over powering, I sent her a few of my ideas to see which she preferred.

I really like this font, it neat and bold yet quite feminin, I like it however I found it rally difficult finding a font to complement it.

This font is called cocogoose, I really like the soft edges, personally I think this font looks best all in lowercase.

This logo was going into more of the business feel, this font is called code, I like it, however when I typed out Annes name I really don't like the way the font is really close together on the accender line, the 'wym' almost join together.

I got this idea of framing the logo with crop marks online, you sometimes see this when you take a photo, but it also reminds me of framing a photo. I sent Anne this idea however I felt it is a bit predictable and over used. The font I used was Futura.

This was the last one that I came up with, I found this font online and thought it would be perfect for Anne, as I know Annes personality I think it is easier to create something for her. The font is called quick sand, I really like the type family and think the dashed type is different.
Anne actually preferred this logo and this is the one she wants to go with.

Here are just a couple of screen shots of her latest work to show the logo in context used as a watermark.

After sending the logo to Anne and asking her to try it out on a few of her photo's she asks whether she could have the dotted lines thicker as it didn't stand out well on some photos, I took the request on board and changed it for her.
The main reason she wanted the logo designing is so she could use it within he prom photography below are some screenshots of it used in real life context
