Here is my old logo that I created in second year, originally it involved a lot of colour however I realised that it may clash with a lot of my work in terms of colour, so I turned it black and white and added a spot pattern.
I wanted to develop the A further and experiment with how it could be simplified. I want something that is recognisable and simple yet still represents my graphic design well.
A lot of people recognise a smile, having a smile within the letter A automatically makes it seem friendlier and instantly recognisable.
After I added the smile I then wanted to experiment with adding a simple face that could maybe be pulled out and used as a secondary logo.
Different colours could be added to the logo for it to go with certain pieces of work or in colour on my website.
After seeing some inspiration on Behance I created this simple smiley face using my initials, I like it however it can appeal slightly childish.
I didn’t like the smiley face logo I created so I went back to developing the A, adding more details and colour to make it my style.
I have used primary colours as they tend to go with many things, some friends told me to add a propeller hat to the design as an experiment. I do like this as a logo however after asking peers within graphic design I got mixed feedback, people said it reminded them of me but are unsure if people would take me seriously enough.
After the feedback I went back to stripping the A back completely and how that would work, I like it however it reminds me too much of other simple logos I have seen before.
After much experiment with the A I have decided not to develop it anymore, I experimented with putting it on my Instagram and website and I just wasn’t happy with the way it was looking, I created this simple shadowed type above that I could potentially use. I am going to develop some type further, add colour and experiment with different types.
